

Children's Health
Ruane is a qualified Child Psychologist and has a Masters Degree in Educational / Developmental Psychology. She has worked in ‘special schools’ with high needs children. As part of a multi disciplinary team she has worked closely with Speech, Occupational and Physiotherapists to assist children of all ages with a wide range of issues.
Ruane conducts psychometric assessments and provides therapy for children struggling to cope at school and also challenging their parents in the home. She also offers a specialised anxiety management program called ‘Friends’ for children between the ages of 6 and 16.
Some of the issues with children include:
- Anxiety...fear of talking in front of the class, not having friends etc
- Problems at school, such as being bullied
- Not coping with school work which can lead to challenging behaviour
- Feelings of anger which could lead them to act out
- Trying to cope with family separation / divorce
- Developmental delays
- Particular problems may include Autistic Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Primary Literacy Disorder

For over 15 years, Ruane has successfully treated a diverse range of health issues in children, and her overall approach is to first and foremost look after children’s emotional wellbeing, development and educational needs.

Advice and support for the rest of the family
Ruane recognises a child or adolescent experiencing problems can be confronting and concerning for the rest of the family. Ruane’s treatments are always given in context of the whole family, and she provides advice and guidance for the child’s parents as well.
